The approximately 26 meter long newbuild is being constructed using proven longitudinal frame aluminum construction and was developed together with experienced sea rescuers and DGzRS inspectors, based on real operational experience in the North Sea and Baltic Sea.
Special features of the new search and rescue cruiser:
- Delta hull with optimized waterline for improved seaworthiness and reduced spray
- Generous working areas on deck to facilitate rescue operations and cooperation with helicopters
- Separate treatment room for medical care of shipwrecked persons and rescued individuals
- State of the art bridge with excellent all around visibility through special windows and camera systems
- Jet powered daughter boat for direct rescue from the water and independent missions
With a crew of four, speeds of up to 23 knots, and cutting edge technology, the cruiser will further develop the DGzRS rescue fleet from 2028 onwards.
After extensive trials, DGzRS will decide on further units; an option for a sister vessel has already been agreed.
