STEELWORK AT THE HEINRICH RÖNNER GROUP

Custom steel construction solutions, from planning to installation

The Heinrich Rönner Group is one of the leading steel construction companies in northern and eastern Germany. With many years of experience, we carry out challenging projects for industry, hydraulic engineering, offshore, and maritime applications.

From planning through fabrication to assembly, quality, precision, and the highest safety standards are at the heart of our work.

Our steel construction services:

Infrastructure and hydraulic engineering
(e.g., bridge construction, steel hydraulic structures, lock systems, lift and bascule gates, flood protection systems)

Industrial and plant engineering
(e.g., industrial facilities, crane construction, large-diameter pipe manufacturing)

Offshore and maritime structures
(e.g., offshore structures, offshore substations, navigation aids, components for ship and yacht building)

Steel Building Construction and Special Structures
(e.g., steel building construction, arched structures, custom steel structures)

One-Stop Engineering and Implementation
(design, shop and fabrication drawings, fabrication, and assembly)

Substation platforms

We have many years of experience in manufacturing substation platforms for offshore wind farms. As early as 2013, we fabricated the steel structure for the substation platform of the “Meerwind” offshore wind farm in the North Sea north of Heligoland, which aggregates the energy from 80 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.6 MW, and feeds it into the power grid.

This was followed in 2017 by the steel structure for the substation platform of the “Nordergründe” offshore wind farm, located about 15 kilometers east of Wangerooge in the Weser estuary. The platform supplies 18 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.15 MW, and was constructed on a monopile due to the shallow water depth.

LNG-Tanks

LNG (liquefied natural gas) is considered a sustainable marine fuel because it produces significantly fewer emissions than heavy fuel oil and marine diesel. Storage at temperatures below –160 °C places the highest demands on materials, workmanship, and safety.

Our specially trained employees manufacture LNG tanks for new ships and ship retrofits precisely according to customer-specific specifications—for efficient and environmentally friendly LNG shipping.

Cold boxes

Since 2015, we have been manufacturing large-scale plant components for the natural gas industry. Each year, we produce six modules weighing up to 130 metric tons and measuring 20 meters in length, which are transported to the Neustadt Harbor in Bremen using our in-house floating crane.

Assembly and outfitting take place there before the plant is integrated into an onshore natural gas processing facility.

TEMPORARY BRIDGE B184

For the B184 in Roßlau, we manufactured a temporary bridge approximately 40 meters long, featuring two truss sections, 13 roadway spans, collision protection, and a sidewalk on one side. The client was OST BAU GmbH, and the project owner was the City of Dessau-Roßlau.

Production began in February 2025 simultaneously at the Roßlau and Dessau sites, including corrosion protection applied directly on the shipyard premises. After complete pre-assembly in the warehouse, the components—weighing up to 35 metric tons—were transported to the construction site via heavy-haul transport, where the truss bridge was lifted into place with millimeter precision using a large crane.

Spare Gate for the Emden Lock

Since early 2025, Stahlbau Nord has been manufacturing a spare gate on behalf of the client, NiedersachsenPorts, weighing approximately 1,000 metric tons for the Emden Main Sea Lock.

The project includes planning, manufacturing the gate in eight large sections at the Bremerhaven site, steel fabrication, welding, coating, dimensional and quality inspections, and the assembly of the sections.
