Stahlbau Nord and Bredo Dry Docks are building new types of LNG tanks

The companies Stahlbau Nord GmbH and Bredo Dry Docks GmbH are building three LNG "bi-nut tanks" on behalf of the shipping company Hurtigruten from Norway.

They are intended to revolutionize the storage of fuel on board ships. The special cross-sectional shape of the new tank should be significantly more flexible with regard to different width-height ratios in the tank room. The construction of the first tank has already been successfully completed in compliance with the schedule and budgeted costs. After the water pressure test, the further equipment and foam insulation were carried out at Stahlbau Nord.

The new unusual design and the construction comes from the engineering office HB Hunte Engineering from Oldenburg.
