In connection with the launching ceremony, a small informal shipyard christening also took place, including the traditional breaking of a bottle of sparkling wine against the bow and the naming of the vessel “NB 215.” The honourable role of godmother was taken on by Ms Karlotta Rietdorf. The official christening and naming will take place in an appropriate setting after delivery to the end customer.
The oil recovery vessel from Tangermünde, with its future home port in Wilhelmshaven, will later operate in the North Sea and perform key tasks in coastal and water protection. Commissioned by the Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation, this is a modern multipurpose vessel for the protection of our coastal waters.
Around eight months ago, the wheelhouse was installed. With the launch, the next major step towards completion has now been achieved.
