SET celebrates keel laying of the third HADAG newbuilding in Tangermünde

At the beginning of November, the keel was laid for the last of HADAG Seetouristik und Fährdienst AG's three new hybrid port ferries at SET Schiffbau- u. Entwicklungsgesellschaft Tangermünde in Sachsen-Anhalt.

After HADAG's first two new port ferries were laid down in March and June of this year, the third and final ship followed at the beginning of the month.

The three new ferries are of great importance for the environmentally and climate-friendly retrofitting of HADAG's fleet of 26 ships.

The first of the three ships is due to start sailing on the Elbe at the beginning of next year. The other two ferries are also scheduled to enter service in 2024.

The advantages of the ferries at a glance:
- have a battery pack; a diesel generator is used as an additional range extender - emission-free operation possible
- 33 m long (longer than previous ferries)
- Space for up to 250 passengers
- Frequency reduced from 15 to 10 minutes
- Optimized boarding area for increasing passenger volume
