USM-Nord is building a new lock gate for the WE Segelclub "Weserstrand" e.V

Marina Elsfleth – After massive wear and tear of the lock gate of the Weserstrand Elsfleth sailing club was determined in 2019, USM-Nord was awarded the contract for the construction of a new lock gate on the harbor side.

After the old sluice gate had served its purpose for 40 years and the decision was made to build a new one instead of repairing it, the SWE finally decided on the company Unterweser Schiff- und Maschinenbau. The project costs of 130,000 euros included the new construction of the lock gate and the use of the group's own floating crane BHV Athlet, which has a lifting capacity of up to 100 tons.

"The company built the new lock gate 1:1 based on the old construction drawings," says the club's chairman, Klaus Damm. Commissioning in March 2022 was agreed with USM-Nord. The company met this deadline on time.

Thanks to the diligent preparatory work of numerous members of the association, all work could be carried out smoothly.

After the old lock gate was lifted out, the new building was put in place in just one hour without any problems.

"The installation went incredibly well and that confirms that we were lucky in choosing the company and our SWE lock team did a good job of preparatory work," reports Klaus Damm.

This means that a colorful SWE lock festival can now take place in summer.
