Alexander von Humboldt II refurbished

From 23 to 30 April 2019, the Alexander von Humboldt II was refurbished in its home port Bremerhaven in Dock 2 (close to the old Rickmers-Lloyds in the floating dock) for the BREDO Dock GmbH.

Rupertus Strako GmbH high-pressure washed the upper deck and the underwater part of the hull, sanded the paint edges, painted with brush and roller, cleaned and painted the sea chests, sanded and painted the port holes and, of course, carried out corrosion protection work.

With its christening in 2011, the ship replaced its predecessor “Alexander von Humboldt” and served as youth and sail training ship for Sail Trainings. The ship is the first German-built tall ship since the “Lili Marleen” in 1994. It is 65 meters long, 10 meters wide and has 24 sails with a total sail surface of more than 14,600 square feet. Up to 79 people can sail on the vessel.
