Stahlbau Nord manufactures new pontoon for a BREDO DRY DOCKS dock

A pontoon measuring 20 x 30 x 3.95 m plus an overhang of 5 x 30 m with a total weight of 385 tons was manufactured for the Mützelfeldt shipyard of BREDO DRY DOCKS as a replacement for a defective pontoon.

The pontoon is not used as a classic pontoon - the dock in Cuxhaven consists of 6 pontoons on which continuous side boxes stand.

The construction, the flame-cut parts and the decks were manufactured by BVT Bremen GmbH & Co. KG.
The pontoon, including the overhang, was built in the Lunehalle at Stahlbau Nord. The construction time was around 4 months.
BREDO DRY DOCKS will complete the entire pipe construction including the pump technology.

At the end of April/beginning of May, the pontoon will be moved from the hall onto the heavy-duty pontoon BHV Innovation from BVT Chartering und Logistics. This will then transport the new dock box to Steelwind in Nordenham. There, the pontoon is lifted into the water using the two 800-ton cranes.
After the launch, the pontoon is then returned to BREDO DRY DOCKS in Bremerhaven before being towed to the Mützelfeldt shipyard where it is replaced with the "old" pontoon.

This joint project work by our four subsidiaries perfectly reflects the sustainable synergies of our Group.
